You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks ...
So, as you may or may not know, our family is in Rockville, VA for training with the International Mission Board. We leave March 26th for Vienna, Austria. This training is to better prepare us for what we will encounter in the next journey of our lives.
Chris and I are in "classes" from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. every day. The girls are in school as well and having a ball! So much so that this morning as Parker, Libby and I were walking to school we were telling everything we were thankful for and Libby (who is not a fan of the whole concept of school) said, "I'm thankful we have so much fun in school!"
OK, so back to Chris and I being in "classes". We've covered topics like culture shock to doctrine. However, one of the best things we've learned is a really simple way to study the Bible. It's called S.P.E.C.K.A. Read a paragraph of scripture and then see if there is a:
S - sin to confess
P - promise to claim
E - example to follow
C - command to obey
K - knowledge to understand
A - application to apply
It's been a great new and easy way to get the most out of God's Word. And yes, it does answer the question: "You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!"
