More Rest

After ...

  • a 2 hour flight to London ... and a 2 hour layover
  • a 10 hour flight to Dallas ... and a delayed layover of 3 hours
  • and a 30 minute flight to Oklahoma City ... and a bear hug from my Addison

I'm tired!  Do that math; that's a lot of miles airborne!  Yet ... I'm trying to stay in "REST".

Yesterday, many a situation tried to steal my REST.  You know those little irritants of which I speak:  a form that was never received, a login number that is forgotten, internet that isn't there, plans that are disrupted, stores that won't take my credit card, too many PJ pants worn in Walmart.  It all adds up.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I've neglected the promise of His Presence way too many years of follow-hood (is that a word?).  After all, I live in a fallen world.  Things are gonna happen that try my patience, steal my joy, get under my skin.  It's totally normal, natural, expected that I will physically react to junk.  Therefore, I live out of this promised abundant life and into my own head limiting my experience and suffocating the Holy Spirits power - this same power that rose Jesus from death by the way - and settle for less than sufficient energy, strength, and "oomph" to navigate life.

ENOUGH!

It's a risky call to take the WORD of God as bigger than my normal experience.  Can I really travel this earth journey - stress and all - and keep my cool, roll with the punches, walk in peace?  The answer is yes.  Yes.  YES!!

REST is not the absence of stress.  REST is the acknowledgement of His Presence in the midst of stress.  Switching the focus off the stress and onto the Stress Taker ... game changer.

Be at rest ... really ...
