Feeling like a Cast Away

Well, my feet have been walking in the dust of my beloved America for less than a week.

My skin is dry.  I'm cold in most indoor places (not used to the AC).  I had to leave Wal-mart because it was too overwhelming.  The streets looks huge.  I can understand every conversation around me.  The food is full of sugar and chemicals.  My bed I sleep in is larger and comfier than anything my body has lain prostrate on for over 4 years.  I have a backyard.  Milk containers are really big.  Store clerks scan stuff really slow.  I still take off my shoes when I enter a home.  I talk to strangers ... and they talk back.  America is really busy.

If you've ever seen the Tom Hanks movie, Cast Away, there is a clip after he comes home.  He's in a big hotel.  His friends have gathered to welcome him home.  He's shell shocked.  He looks the same ... but he's not.

That's kinda where I am right now.  Trying to navigate through familiar territory that was once normal is a weird thing.

Stay tuned.  This journey has just begun!
